One of the biggest universities of Tamilnadu is Dr M G R Medical University. It provides various medical courses and B.pharma is one of them. Mathematics including biostatistics is one of the major papers of the 1st year B.pharma. This paper consists of two parts: one mathematics and the other biostatistics. Equal importance is given to both the parts. And attempting the questions of both the parts is compulsory. The syllabus is a bit big as it has two subjects combined together.

The sections in this paper

The whole paper is divided into two parts one for each subject and each part contain three sections.

The paper pattern

The paper is divided into two similar parts. Each part is for one of the subject. Each part is further divided into three sections. In the first part the first section is essay type question where students have to write one questions out of the two questions. The second section contains short notes where we need to write three questions out of five and the third section contains short answer type questions where we need to write two questions out of three. The same pattern is followed for the second part. Thus the students should attempt two essays, 6 short notes and 4 short answer type questions.

The marks division

The total marks for the paper is 80 marks and which is equally divided into the two parts 40 each. The essay type questions carry 20 marks each that is a total of 40 marks. The short notes carry 5 marks each that accounts to a total of 30 marks and the short answer carries 2.5 marks each that is a total of 10 marks.

The time allotted

The time allotted for the paper is 3hrs.
