Velammal Engineering College, Chennai
Velammal Engnieering College was formed in the academic year 1995-96 with the purpose of imparting quality education. It is affiliated to Anna University and it is a non-minority self-financing institution. The college is approved by AICTE and ISO as well. The mission of the college is to provide world class education in management, technology and engineering, to promote research and development and to encourage creativity. The college is holding the pride of being the first self-financing non-minority institution to be awarded with ISO certification. Some of the engineering branches of the college namely electronics & instrumentation engineering, information technology, mechanical engineering, electrical & electronics engineering, electronics & communication engineering and computer science & engineering are approved by National Board of Accreditation of All India Council of Technical Education.
Campus:
The campus of the college is spread over an area of 37 acres and it includes several facilities. The campus is divided into 13 different blocks and it also includes two tennis courts, three volleyball courts and a multipurpose indoor stadium for multi gym, weight lifting, chess, table tennis, shuttle, volley ball and basket ball. These sports facilities are included so as to encourage the students to take part in extra curricular activities apart from studies.
Courses:
Both under-graduation and post-graduation courses are offered by the college. The college provides B.E in production engineering, civil engineering, electronics & instrumentation engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical & electronics engineering, electronics & communication engineering and computer science engineering, B. Tech in information technology and M. Tech in information technology. M.E is offered in control & instrumentation engineering, embedded system technologies, mobile and pervasive computing, power systems & engineering, applied electronics & engineering, computer science & engineering and IC engines. The college also provides M. Sc in computer technology and MBA and MCA as well.
