French is one of the subjects in which students can take up the National Eligibility Test or NET, as it is better known as. French is taken up by many students and this happens to be one of the most favorite subjects of the candidates. This subject is opted by those who wish to take up lectureship as their career or want a JRF in French.

Qualification:

The minimum qualification required for appearing in NET is 55% marks in the Master’s degree. The 55% should be without any grace and should no t be rounded off. Students have to select the subject in NET according to the subject of their post graduation. If their subject is not in the list they can select a subject related to their subjects. The marks limit is 50% for SC/ST students. Students who have appeared in the qualifying exam of the Master’s degree and are awaiting the result can also apply. Their eligibility is provisional though.

Scoring and Negative Marking:

There are no negative marking in this paper and each question is of 2 marks.

Mode of Exam:

The exam of NET French is a paper-pen test. Students have to use a black/blue ball point pen to mark their answers.

Format:

Paper II of French is an objective type test. All the questions are multiple choice type ones.

Paper Pattern:

There are 50 questions in the question paper. All the questions are compulsory. There are four options with each question. An OMR sheet is provided to mark the answers. Students are required to mark their answers on this sheet. Out of the four alternatives only one is correct. Each of the questions is of 2 marks. As said above, there is no negative marking in the paper.

Marking:

The total marks carried by the paper are 100.

Schedule:

The time allotted for taking the test is 1¼ hours.
