GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. This is an all India level exam being jointly conducted by Indian Institute of Science and 7 IIMs (Indian Institute of Management).

Here is the eligibility criteria to appear for GATE Exam.

-Candidates should be of bachelors degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architectrue which must be a 4 years course after completion of 10+2.

-Candidates who are pursuing final year of bachelors degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture are also eligible to appear for this exam.

-Candidates of Masters degree with any of the stream are eligible to appear for this exam. Even the candidates who are pursuing final year of Masters degree with any of the stream are also eligible.

-There will be no age criteria for GATE Exam. One can appear for GATE Exam irrespective of age if he meet academic criteria.

-There will be no limit on number of attempts for GATE Exam. You can appear for GATE Exam as many times as you wanted.

From this academic year, pre final year candidates of Engineering are not eligible to appear for GATE Exam.

Dear friend,

The eligibility criteria for GATE exam:-

(a) Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/Technology or its equivalent.

(b) Bachelor’s degree holders in Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science/Electronics/ followed by qualifications obtained through an examination conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE.

(c) Bachelor’s degree holders in Architecture/Design (for M Des program only)

(d) Master’s degree holders in Physics with Electronics/Instrumentation (for M Tech programs).

From this year only final year student are eligible.

3rd year student are not eligible for GATE exam.

ELIGIBILITY FOR GATE EXAMINATION
The following categories of candidates are eligible to appear for
GATE 2012:
 Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology/
Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the
final year of such programmes.
 Master's degree holders in any branch of
Science/Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications or
equivalent and those who are in the final year of such
programmes.
 Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year
Integrated Master's degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in
Engineering/Technology.
 Candidates in the fourth or higher year of Five-year Integrated
Master's degree programme or Dual Degree programme in
Engineering/Technology.
 Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations
conducted by professional societies recognized by
UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institute of Engineers (India);
AMICE by Institute of Civil Engineers (India)) as equivalent to
B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or
equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

Eligibility criteria for gate:- educational qualification is graduation in engineering in any stream from any recognized university or master degree graduation. There is no age limit for gate exam. Eligibility for GATE 2012

GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering and this exam occurs every year for admission to top M.Tech colleges like IITs,NITs,BITS,IISc and many other top colleges in India..

According to the guidelines of GATE 2012..the following candidates are eligible for appearing in the GATE exam :-

1) B.Tech final year students or B.Tech degree holders

2) Master's Degree holder or final year students

3) Students of final year Dual Degree Programs or Dual Degree holders can appear for this exam..

NOTE :- Pre-final year students are not eligible for appearing in the GATE 2012 exam..

No, you are not eligible to take GATE. The criteria to apear in gate is :
Final year B.Tech students or passed out students.
So wait to get into final year and then go for it.
Before that as you got time, so prepare yourself with all possible ways. Like, get into a good coaching institute and collect study materials regarding you trade and the most vital point practice in time bound way, so in the exam hall you will be far more confident than others.

GATE is the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, and it is conducted by the IIT's and NIT'S and the 7 IIM's in a joint venture in order to select the best minds for the master's courses.

Its criteria is :

You have to be a graduate from a recognized university, and with a minimum 60% marks aggregate in the same.

You cannot appear for GATE, untill you are 21 years , or until you reach your final year of graduation.

The GATE examination is conducted by the IIT's for taking admission in the M.Tech course.
The eligibility criteria for the GATE examination is as under:-

• The candidate should has passed B.Tech or BE or B. Arch.
• The candidate appearing in the final examination of BE, B.Tech or B.Arch are also eligible to apply.

OR

• The candidates should has a master's degree like M.Sc or MCA etc.

There is no age limit criteria imposed for the GATE examination.
There is no limit of attempts. A person can apply for the examination as many times as he wants.
