Entrance test for IAS and IPS position is conducted by UPSC. Graduation is the educational qualification required. Degree can be obtained in any subject from a recognized University. Age of the applicant must be less than 30 years. Lower age limit is 21 years.

There is only one examination conducted for the entrance of candidates in Indian Administrative Services as well as the Indian Police Services. And that examination is known as the Civil services Examination. This Examination is conducted every year by the Union Public Service Commission [UPSC] . IAS/IPS - Indian Administrative Service/Indian Police Service, to become an IAS/IPS officer one has to apply, appear and crack Civil Service Exam, conducted by UPSC every year.

For IAS/IPS you just need to be Graduate in any discipline from a recognised University.
Along with Graduation you must have the age which is 21 to 30 years if you are General Category candidate. There is age relaxation for other categories which is mentioned below: SC/ST - 5 years relaxation OBC - 3 years relaxation PWD - 10 years relaxation The merit will be prepared for selection on the basis of examination which will have some stages that you have to clear with merit. -Preliminary Test which will be objective type paper. You have to pass this to become eligible for next stage. -Mains and Interview- It will have descriptive type paper and interview. For IPS there will be medical examination for physical fitness and other criteria. Hence be prepared for the examination and if you have not completed graduation then complete it. To become an IAS/IPS Officer One Needs to crack Civil Service Exam.It is under Civil Service Exam conducted once in a Year by UPSC. You must have graduation degree from a recognized university for IAS/IPS entrance exams. Eligibility criteria in Details: Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree of a recognized university Age limit: 21 years must be completed on 1st August of the year, which a candidate is appearing. Maximum 30 for general category, 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs. Number of Attempts: Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs. If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is counted as an attempt.
