Physical Standards :
Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I), 2008 as per guidelines
(e) A candidate who has resigned or withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from any of the training academics of Armed Forces is not eligible to apply.

These are some of the physical standards requirement for NDA:

1)The candidates should not be colour/night blind & must be physically fit according to
following physical standards:-

(a) Height and Weight. Minimum height-157cms for men & 152 cms for women with
correlated weight.

(b)Eye Sight. 6/24, 6/24 correctable to 6/6 in each eye with glasses for tech branch & Submarine Cadre and 6/60, 6/60 correctable to 6/6, 6/12 with glasses for the Naval Architecture Cadre.

2) Your chest should be well developed. The minimum range of expansion after full inspiration should be 5 cm.

3)There should be no disease of bones and joints of the body.

4)You should be free of any past history of mental breakdown or fits.

5)Your hearing should be normal without any evidence of present or past disease of the ear, nose and throat.

6)There should be no sign of functional or organic disease of the heart and blood vessels. Your blood pressure should also be normal.

7)The muscles of the abdomen should be well developed without any enlargement of the liver or spleen. Any evidence of disease of internal organs of the abdomen can be a cause for rejection.

8)An un-operated hernia can make you unfit for selection. If operated, this should have been done at least six months prior to the present examination and healing should be complete without any potential for recurrence.

9)There should be no hydrocele, varicocele or piles. If operated for hydrocele and/or varicocele, this should have been done at least six months prior to the present examination and healing should be complete without any recurrence.

10)Urine examination will be done and any abnormality, if detected, can be a cause for rejection.

11)Any disease of the skin, which is likely to cause disability or disfigurement, will also be a cause for rejection.

12)Vision will be tested. You must have good binocular vision. In case you have undergone or are detected to have undergone Radial Keratotomy, or any other procedure to improve the visual acuity, you will be permanently rejected in case of indian airforce.

13)You should have sufficient number of natural and sound teeth. A minimum of 14 dental points will be acceptable. When 32 teeth are present, the total dental points are 22. You should not be suffering from severe pyorrhoea.

Physical Standards

However the candidates declared unfit will be intimated by the President of the Medical Board and the procedure for request for an Appeal Medical Board will also be intimated to the candidate.

Candidates declared unfit during Appeal Medical Board will be intimated about the provision of Review Medical Board.

(a) The candidate must be in good physical and mental health and free from any disease/disability which is likely in interfere with the efficient performance of military duties.

(b) There should be no evidence of weak constitution, bodily defects or under weight. The candidate should not be overweight or obese.

(c) The minimum acceptable height is 157.5 cms. (162.5 cms for Air Force) F

A ± 10% (A ± 6 Kg for Navy) departure from the average weight given in the table 1 above is to be considered within normal limit. However, in individuals with heavy bones and broad build as well as individuals with thin but otherwise healthy this may be relaxed to some extent on merit.

Note 1 : Height relaxable upto 2.5 cm (5 cm. for Navy) may be allowed where the Medical Board certifies that the candidate is likely to grow and come up to the required standard on completion of his training.

Note 2 : To meet special requirement as a pilot in the Air Force the acceptable measurements of leg length, thigh length and sitting height will be as under :–

Minimum Maximum
Leg Length 99.00cms. 120.00 cms.
Thigh Length – 64.00 cms.
Sitting Height 81.50cms. 96. 00 cms.

On account of lower age of NDA candidates, a margin of upto 5.0 cm. in height, 2.5 cm. in leg length (minimum) and 1.0 cm. sitting height (minimum) may be given provided it is certified by the Medical Board that the candidate is likely to grow and come upto the required standard on completion of his training in NDA.

Chest should be well developed. Fully expanded chest should not be less than 81 cms. The minimum range of expansion after full inspiration should be 5 cms. The measurement will be taken with a tape so adjusted that its lower edge should touch the nipple in front and the upper part of the tape should touch the lower angle of the shoulder blades behind. X-Ray of the chest is compulsory and will be taken to rule out any disease of the chest.

There should be no disease of bones and joints of the body. X-ray of spine of candidates will not be carried out as a routine except for Air Force. It will, however, be done on the advice of surgical specialist wherever clinically indicated. Minor congenital defects which are not likely to interfere in the performance of military duties may be acceptable on merit..

i can give you the eye sight standards,
for army or navy you should have eye sight below -2.
for air force you should have an perfect eye sight of 6/6
for navy you should not have any color blindness

Guidelines For Physical Standards for Admission to the National Defence Academy
Note : Candidates must be Physically AND MENTALLY fit According to the pre-scribed Physical standards. The guidelines for the same are given below.
A Number of qualified candidates are rejected subsequently on Medical grounds. Candidates are therefore advised in their own interest to get themselves medically examined before submitting their applications to avoid disappointment at the final stage.
Candidates are also advised to rectify minor defects/ailments in order to speed up finalisation of medical examination conducted at the Military Hospital after being recommended at the SSB. Few of such commonly found defects/ailments are listed below :
(a) Wax (Ears)
(b) Deviated Nasal Septum
(c) Hydrocele/Phimosis
(d) Overweight/Underweight
(e) Under sized Chest
(f) Piles
(g) Gynaecomastia
(h) Tonsillitis
(i) Varicocele
Civilian candidates appearing for all types of commission in the Armed Forces will be entitled to out-patients treatment from service sources at public expense for injuries sustained or diseases contracted during the course of their examination by the Selection Board. They will also be entitled to in-patient treatment at public expense in the Officers’s ward of a hospital provided–
(a) the injury is sustained during the tests or,
(b) the disease is contracted during the course of the examination by selection board and there is no suitable accommodation in local civil hospital or it is impracticable to remove the patient to the civil hospital; or,
(c) the medical board requires the candidates’s admission for observation.
Note : They are not entitled to special nursing.

In that case there is a special criteria.If go through laser operation your operation must be Sucessful,besides these at the time of joining at least 6 months should be pasted of operation and the last thing is that there would not be any problem persist after operation that will hinder in the path of performing the duty.

what are the chances of selection of a person with a microcytic hypochromatic blood cells

I want to know, as i had operated before 9 years in neck because of a little tumer and their came about 36 striches at that place. but now that is allright, it never pains since then. know there left only sign of that operation in neck. I want to know wheather i can pass nda medical test or there is no chance?

Sorry dear you wont be selected for NDA after going through Medical fitness test.Tumer operation is not a small operation.
For joining defence services the candidate must be Medically fit in all respect.Few small operated cases are only allowed,with some special insturctions and all.

i believe there will not be any problem for you ......

when you go for SSB ....there on the very first day they will be asking to you to fill a form where you will be asked about any major surgery ...there you can describe your case......

if they are ok with it you will be staying there for few more days and can give more explanation while your medical examination.......

(i) For Army wing of National Defence Academy :- 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
(ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 (Executive Branch) Course at the Naval Academy :- 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equilvalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

I hope this may help you.below are the physical standard requirement for NDA.
(a) Height: Minimum 157 cms (May be reduced by 5 cms in the case of Gorkhas, Nepalese, Assamese (including those from Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura), Garhwalese, Sikkimese, Local tribals of AQdaman and Nicobar Islands, and by 2 cms, in case of candidates from Laccadives, mainland settlers in Andaman and Nicobar and candidates joining the Coast Guard as secondment from other Government Departments.

(b) Weight: Proportionate to height and age. The correlated weight should not however, vary from the average by more than 10%.

(c) Chest: Should be well proportioned. Minimum expansion 5 cms.

(d) Eye Sight: 6/12 (good eye) and 6/36 (bad eye).

Sorry dear you are not eligible for NDA.

Even if you able to crack the Entrance then you will surely be rejected at the time of Medical Fitness test.

It is clearly mentioned in the Fitness criteria of NDA advertizement (8 pages) released in Employment News, that candidates should not suffer from "Night Blindness" or "Colour Blindness"

sorry to say that color blindness is not acceptable in NDA.
you cannot pass the medical test.

But try for another except NDA

for applying in NDA a candidate must have to know about some fitness criteria which is followed by defence officials.
like height must be above than 156 cm.
candidate have not color blindness.
The eye sight must be 6/6.
& candidate must also fit internally.

If you fulfill all the criteria then you can apply for NDA.

Sorry dear both of you are not eligible either for Merchant Navy or Airforce.

Both of you will be rejected at the time of Medical Fitness Test.

For joining Merchant Navy or Airforce candidates must be medically fit in all respect.

Since, some people have well developed or strong Bones 10% increase in weight is permissible in that case.

For Example:- If your age is 18 weight limit for which is 45 kgs, but your are of 49 kgs but fit in all other respects so in that case you would be considered eligible.

If you have any Eye decease, then get treated it before appearing for NDA, Medical fitness Test.

And it is adviced to all the NDA Aspirants those who have qualified the written test and had been invited for SSB, so before going for SSB get a complete checkup with a Good Physician or else and settle down if any decease persists.

fitness criteria's regarding nda entrance exam are very strict as their are many adverse climate and situation in which one has to work doing their jobs.

at the time of admission , it is been thoroughly checked by the officials of medical board .
