The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) carries out an entrance test for the recruitment of candidates into the Sub Inspectors (SI) post in the Central Police Organizations (CPOs). More details about this exam are mentioned below.

Structure of the SSO CPO Exam

The SSO CPO exam will comprise of two parts.

PAPER-I

This paper will have a period of 2 hours - 10.00 A.M. tο12.00 Noon. The paper will carry a total of 200 marks. This part is divided into 2 parts. Each part will include 50 questions and will carry 50 marks.

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning Test
  • General Knowledge and General Awareness Test
  • Numerical Aptitude Test
  • English Comprehension Test

PAPER-II

This paper will consist of Questions on English Language and Comprehension. The time allotted to finish writing all answers is two hours - 2.00 PM to 4.00 PM. 200 questions that carry 1 mark each will asked.

Both these papers will have MCQ with 3 – 4 choices each. Negative marking is followed when these papers are evaluated. 0.25 marks will be taken away for wrong answers.

Those students who clear the written paper Part I will be called for the Physical Endurance Test (PET) & Medical Test. Only those who clear this part will be called in for the Personality Test / Interview

English Comprehension – This paper is meant to assess the applicant’s ability to understand English. The syllabus of this part of the exam is of class X.

Paper-II: English Language & Comprehension – Test the applicants understanding in English. Questions will be from:

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be Indian citizens.
  • Candidates who are applying for the exam must not be more than 25 years of age.
  • They must be born in between the 25th of June, 1986 and the 23rd of June, 1991.
  • Applicants must be graduates from any recognized University
  • In addition to the aforementioned criteria, candidates also ought to have the required physical eligibility.

How to Apply?

Applicants can procure the applications by the offline or online methods.

Offline method:

The fees for this exam can be paid by means of the “Central Recruitment Fee Stamps (CRFS) only. This can be got from the counters of all Departmental Post Offices in India. This stamp is to be pasted on the admission form in the space mentioned. The stamp must also be formally signed by the Post Office of issue. The Recruitment Fee Stamps is also to be cancelled by the candidates. The impression of the cancellation must be clear as well as distinct as to facilitate the identification easily. Once the Recruitment Fee Stamp is cancelled, applicants ought to submit their admission form to the Regional Office or the Sub Regional Offices concerned is the conventional manner subsequent to the achievement of all other formalities.

Online Method:

Applicants who are submitting their forms online ought to pay the necessary amount at any State Bank of India by means of either net-banking or challan.

Note: Women candidates as well as candidates of the reserved categories and Ex-Servicemen are not required to pay the fees.

How to fill the Form?

Students are to fill the admission form as per as the instructions given below:

  • Use only black or blue colored ball pens.
  • Applicants can fill the form in Hindi or English
  • When filling the form put space after each word.
  • Name of the examination centre as well as the Centre Code must be given correctly.
  • Candidates who wish to get age relaxation must note down the specific code when filling the application.
  • Preference of the post must be notified.
  • Note down the complete communication address. This must include the full name of the candidate in CAPITAL LETTERS in Hindi or English. The pin code must also be mentioned correctly.
  • Mobile numbers and Email addresses must be notified as these will be used for communication in case of emergencies.
  • A 4cmx5cm sized recent photograph of the candidate is to be affixed. Photos are not to be signed or stapled. It should also not be attested. In case any of these rules are not followed or if the photograph is defaced, the application shall be rejected immediately.
  • The box for giving the Roll Number is to be left blank.
  • The candidate must give their signature in running hand only. Those applications that are signed in English capital letters or is unsigned shall be not considered by the Commission.

  • Final date for applying: Last week of June 2012 and first week of June, 2012 for remote areas
  • Date of the Written Exam 2011: Last week of August, 2012
