A state named Haryana and the Union Territory of Chandigarh came into on November 1, 1966 under the States Re-organisation Act, 1966. The High Court of Punjab was then renamed as ‘the High Court of Punjab and Haryana’ under the same act. The principal seat of the High Court remained at Chandigarh. The High Court of Punjab and Haryana is considered as one of the most beautiful High Courts in India. It has 40 courtrooms, 3 Bar rooms, 1 dispensary and a very good canteen.
