National Highways Authority of India was established in the year 1988 as an Autonomous Government Agency. The major purpose of the authority is development and maintenance of National Highways. Mr. Brijeshwar Singh is the Chairman of the authority. Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is the parent organization of the National Highways Authority of India. The authority is responsible for the management of a network of over 60 thousand kilometer of National Highways in the country.
