Information and Library Network Centre (INFLIBNET) was established as an autonomous inter university centre by the Government of India. The sentre was established under the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India. The headquarter of the centre is located at at Gujarat University Campus, Ahmedabad. The centre was awarded with the status of being a independent inter university centre in the year 1996. The major objective of the centre is to promote communication facilities in order to improve information transfer and access capability.
