Uttar Pradesh Technical University is the name that has been the source and the hub of education in the state of Uttar Pradesh in the northern India wherein the knowledge relating to the technical side is concerned. Now this university has been progressively named as the Gautam Buddh Technical University, Lucknow, India. The Uttar Pradesh Technical University was laid to foundation on the date of 8th May 2000 via the University Act of the state government of Uttar Pradesh. This university was so setup in the name of providing education, research and training in the subjects of technical including engineering, architecture, technology pharmacy, arts and crafts and finally town planning. The gazette was meant to be flexible in order to be updated by the approval of the AICTE or All India Council for Technical Education. The university owing to its affiliating nature has its courses running in 238 colleges which were initially 49 in 2000, providing graduate, post graduate and doctoral degrees via courses like B.Tech, M.C.A., M.Tech (for engineering and technology), B.Arch (for Architecture), B.H.M.C.T. (Hotel Management), B.Pharma (for pharmacy) and PhD, MBA . As for the huge history it posses, the university too is the largest technical university is the entire Asian continent.

The campus of the university is located by the name of I.E.T. Campus at the Sitapur road in Lucknow which will be shortly shifted to its independent headquarter in the same surrounding. The university also aims to open a regional center in Noida which houses several of its affiliated private colleges.

The courses offered by the university have been summarized above and can be pursued by applying to the university via the university application form opting for the desired program and through the State bind Entrance Examination conducted by the university under the name of U.P.- S.E.E. This exam has an approximate of 2, 15,000 aspirants every year. The selection is done by the merit in the exam. The university today imparts knowledge to around 50,000 students in different programs via its programs and courses.
