Admission Procedure Details:

CLAT/Common Law Admission Test which is the entrance test has to be cleared by the candidates seeking admission to post-graduate diploma. For MPhil, the candidate performance in the interview and presentation of research proposal is considered. For PhD, performance in the interview and evaluation of the thesis submitted is considered. For LLD, the candidate’s performance in interview is a must. For admission to Intergrated programmes, admission is on the basis of scores in CLAT.

Pattern of NLSIU examination:

The students need to clear CLAT

For Undergraduate Program (LLB):

The test paper includes 200 questions related to English including Comprehension

Section II comprises of questions related to General Knowledge/ Current Affairs

Section III includes Elementary Mathematics

Section IV is of Legal Aptitude/Legal Awareness

Section V of Logical Reasoning Questions.

For Postgraduate Program (LLM):

Law of Contracts, Law of Torts, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law and Legal Theory

The exam of two hours of duration fetches 200 marks in total. The test is divided into the following three sections:

Objective Type

Short answers

Essay

Eligibility for NLSIU:

Post Graduate Diploma:

Graduation in relevant stream is mandatory

Post Graduate:

Candidate must have a bachelor degree in law from a recognized University, with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate.

Doctorate:

M Phil - Candidate must have a LLM degree or equivalent examination from a recognized University, with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

PhD - Candidate must have LLM degree with from a recognized University, with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate.

Or

Candidate must be M Phil in Law from a recognized University.

LLD - Candidate must have PhD in law.

Integrated:

Candidate must pass their Higher Secondary or 10+2 level of examination from a recognized Board.

Admission Procedure:

Post Graduate:

Admission is done on the basis of the candidate’s performance in Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
