TIFR or Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai conducts M.Sc, Integrated PhD and PhD entrance exam for admission into the PhD program as well as M.Sc and integrated PhD degree in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer and Systems Sciences, Biology, Integrated PhD in Mathematics, Biology and M.Sc Biology as well as M.Sc in Wildlife Biology and Conservation.

Admission Procedure Details:

*The Entrance Examination for admission to the Ph.D. Program is conducted every year. The eligible applicants will first be screened on the basis of a written test. Candidates who pass the written test will appear for an interview, which is the main part of the examination.

*In exceptional cases, a Special Entrance Examination may be administered at any time of the year to an especially promising candidate at the discretion of the Subject Board.

Pattern of TIFR:

It is a written test followed by personal interview.

Eligibility for TIFR:

* A master’s degree in any of the natural sciences, mathematics, statistics, computer and information sciences, pharmaceutical sciences or any allied disciplines.

* Candidates having degree in engineering or medicine are also eligible.

* Candidates with Master’s degree in any of the social, behavioral sciences, psychology, linguistics, sociology, economics, anthropology or any allied disciplines can also apply.

* Above all, the candidates should have a consistent good academic record and a strong interest in research in science education.
