The institute came into existence in the year 1962 as one of the prestigious medical and research institution in Asia. The institute has also been awarded the status of being a Deemed University which means that it can give its own degree to students by an act of Parliament of India. Besides being a recognized institute, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research also works as a hospital that provides medical care to the ill people or patients.

Candidates are invited to apply on the faculty posts of Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor in Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research depending on their educational qualification and experience.
Eligibility:
Candidates should be within the prescribed age limit set for the posts. All candidates are required to have age more than the minimum age limit and less than the prescribed maximum age limit. Candidates failing to fulfill this age criteria must not apply for any of the posts.
Educational Qualification:
Post Graduation degree has been set as the minimum educational qualification for all the three posts of Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor in Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research. Experienced candidates will get the preference over other candidates.

Pay Scale:
Professor: Rs. 37400-67000 + Grade Pay of Rs. 10500.
Associate Professor: Rs. 37400-67000 + Grade Pay of Rs. 9000.
Assistant Professor: Rs. 15600-39100 + Grade Pay of Rs.8000.
Application Fee:
Non refundable application fee is Rs. 525 for general candidates and Rs. 275 for SC/ST candidates. Candidates should pay this fee in the form of a Demand Draft drawn in favour of Director, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh payable at State Bank of India, Sector-12, Chandigarh (Code No. 1524).
