Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur
Rani Durgavati University was also known as the university of Jabalpur in the earlier times. This university is a public university and being the only sole university in the city of Madhya Pradesh, the university was accordingly graded as the B++ University by the NAAC. This university came into establishment on the date of 12th June 1956 and at the time the jurisdiction of the university was limited to the revenue district of the Jabalpur city but the university got shifted to its present campus within the Jabalpur city itself in 1961. The jurisdiction of the university was revised in the year of 1995 where it exceeded the city of Jabalpur and moved on to several other districts as well like Mandla, Seoni Narsinghpur etc. in 1983 the university showed yet another major advancement when the university was reconstituted and renamed to its name today.
The campus of the university is spread wide over the land area of 99.63 acres and includes many buildings such as the administrative block, faculty departments, research buildings, library, hostels, computer center etc. with all the modern facilities lying well within the campus of the university, the university provides a modern and hi tech environment to its students for excelling in the field of academics.
The university with it’s such a grand history and the rich background proudly boasts its 29 teaching faculty department and staff members. These departments are all situated within the campus and have been working diligently since the establishment of the university to impart education to their best of capabilities. Some of these faculty departments are: physics and electronics, sociology, philosophy, school of education, bio science, physical education, system science, Sanskrit political science, economics, chemistry, macromolecular research, yoga, Hindi, geography etc. all these departments have surely proven to be the backbone of the university so that the university has been flourishing in the knowledge spreading area within the seven district jurisdiction of the university.
