Balaji Institute of Engineering and Technology is managed by Sri Venkateswara Educational and Charitable Trust. This college is located at Thandalam, in Chennai and is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. This college was founded in the year 2008 with the only aim of imparting technical knowledge to the students residing in rural areas. The college has been approved by the norms of All India Council for Technical Education.

Balaji Institute of Engineering and Technology has a big library with huge collection of over 10,000 volumes of books. The entire library is fully air-conditioned and is provided with internet facility and a small theatre. The library also has a tie up with IIT, Madras and British Council library, Chennai for making use of their resources. The college operates 5 buses which transports students from various parts of Chennai city. The bus also runs to rural areas and outskirts for collecting students. Separate hostel services are available for boys and girls who come from other states.
