Kuvempu University is an affiliating university located in the state of Karnataka in India. The university was formed in the year 1987 and it is a university with outstanding educational profile, combining in itself commitment to modern spirit and rural ethos.

The university is offering under graduation, post graduation and post graduate diploma courses through its 41 departments in the faculties of law, education, commerce, science and arts. The main campus of the university is called as Jnana Sahyadri and it is situated at Shankaraghatta at around 28 km from the town of Shimoga, which is the headquarters of the district and at around 18 km from Bhadravathi, which is a popular industrial town. The main campus of the Kuvempu University is divided into different blocks of which the academic block houses the post-graduate departments of journalism & mass communication, teaching, English, sociology, economics, MSW, Urdu, Sanskrit, Hindi,  and Political Science.

In addition to offering courses through affiliated and constituent colleges, the university is also offering correspondence courses to deserving candidates through its directorate of correspondence courses. The university has also introduced five-year integrated courses in different disciplines from the academic year 2003-2004. With these integrated courses, candidates can get the advantage of combining the UG and PG for getting an in-depth knowledge in their favorite field of education.
