Kuvempu is a university that most love to pursue their courses. The university offers courses in various streams. M.A in various courses is offered by the university. It even offers M.A in education. One of the subjects that M.A students of education have to study during the first year of the course is ‘Education in emerging India’. It is a very important subject especially in light of the current rate of India’s development and the role of education in it.

Importance of the subject and paper pattern

This is a very important subject, not only to M.A students of education but everyone. This is a subject that teaches the importance of education in India that is fast emerging at the international level. It focuses mainly on what has to be done to improve the system of education. It also compares the previous system and the present system of education.

The paper is printed in both English and Kannada so that the candidates can read it with ease. The paper is totally descriptive. The paper consists of total of 12 questions and the candidates have to answer any 8 of them. There are no sections in the paper. Certain questions contain sub questions. All the questions are essay types and there are no short answer type questions in the paper. When learning for the exam, the candidates need to focus a lot on examples as most questions need the candidates to present examples.

Duration of the paper and marking scheme

The duration of the paper is three hours. The paper is marked out of 80. There are 12 questions in the paper, each carrying 10 marks. The candidates need to answer any 8 questions. Thus, the total mark is 80.
