Union Public Service Commission conducts the exam for Office Procedure and Practice (Category III). This exam has been put up to recruit candidates for the post of SO’s/Steno’s, which falls under Group B/Group I.

Division or Section in the paper:

The paper does not carry any kind of division or section, and has different question arranged linearly.

Pattern of the paper:

The paper has a maximum of six main questions. The first main question, is compulsory to attempt, and is divided into five different sub-question, all of these five are True or False based questions. The second and the fifth main question carry two sub-questions. The third and the fourth main question carry three different sub-questions. The sixth main question is divided into six different sub-questions, out of which candidates have to attempt any five. Each of these sub-questions is short answer based. Candidates have to attempt question number one, and any four from the remaining five.

Markings evaluated by the Examination Board:

The total mark evaluated by the UPSC is around one hundred. The first main question carries a maximum of ten marks, where as the remaining four carries twenty marks. There is no kind of negative marking attached with the paper.

Time allotted for the examination:

The total time allotted for answering the question paper is two hours.
