Cochin University of Science and Technology otherwise called CUSAT is one of the most reputed universities in Kerala. The university is located in Cochin and it offers numerous professional degree programmes for the aspiring students. This university is approved by the Government of India for providing high quality education to the candidates from in and outside the state.

CUSAT CAT is the entrance examination organized by the University for the Admission of eligible candidates to various professional degree programmes. It is a National level test conducted in various parts of the country. The admission through this test is offered for the courses like engineering, integrated M.Sc courses, undergraduate programme in Law. Those clearing this test can get admission in various colleges under this university. Through this examination candidates can also get admissions in postgraduate programmes such as LLM, MA, M.Sc, MBA and MCA.

Those candidates who wish to appear in this examination should satisfy some qualification criteria. For the undergraduate programmes they must have passed the higher secondary examinations or equivalent with PCM or PCBM from any reputed institutions. Those who like to take admission for the postgraduate programmes should have pursued the bachelor’s degree in concerned subjects from recognized universities.

Syllabus for CUSAT CAT Exam

The syllabus for this examination is adopted entirely from the 12th academics of the recognized state boards for the undergraduate degree programmes. The questions are asked from the following subjects:

  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Mathematics

The syllabus will be different for the postgraduate programmes. It will include the technical and higher aptitude questions.

Question Pattern of CUSAT CAT Exam

As said earlier the CUSAT CAT is the examination for the admission of both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Even though it is organized as a common test, the question pattern for both differs entirely. The question paper for the first degree courses will comprise of about 125 questions of objective type. It is divided into two sections – Physics & Chemistry which maintains the ration of 3:2 and Mathematics. Candidates have to qualify both these sections separately. The duration of the examination is 180 minutes.

The question paper for the postgraduate programmes will include about 150 questions. It is covered from the technical and higher aptitude sections. The duration for this is also 180 minutes.

The marks are equally divided for every section of the question paper. Each question follows four choices from which students have to pick out the right answer. There will be negative marking for each wrong answer.
