The national eligibility test has two papers on forensic, paper one and paper two. Paper two is a multiple choice question paper and has questions on topics like the definition and history of forensic, crime scene management, legal procedures regarding expert testimony. It is also about topics like techniques like NMR, X-rays, electrophoresis, grouping and typing of blood etc.

Paper pattern:

It is a multiple choice question paper and has four options. One has to answer by darkening on the appropriate circle .There are a total of 50 objective questions and the type of questions range from match the following to assertion and reasoning to arranging in a sequential order. One has been given a rough work space. The paper is available in Hindi as well as in English.

Maximum marks and time allotted:

The marks allotted in the forensic paper 2 of the national eligibility test is 100 as ther are 50 questions carrying 2 marks each. The time allotted for completing the paper is one hour and fifteen minutes.

Questions range from topics like crime scene investigation and its management, chromatographic techniques like thin layer and glass layer etc, grouping and typing of blood and the various types of electrophoresis including high voltage and low voltage. Other topics of importance are DNA profiling, and chemical examination of insecticides and other drugs like morphine and opium. Identification of a person from bodily evidences and the examination of a dead body along with identification from various body parts like teeth and the technique behind it. Questions include date of establishment of Bureau of Police Research and Development and instruments used for imaging of body organs to name a few.
