Medical College:

Government Medical College, Kottayam was established in the year 1962 and the college is also called as Kottayam Medical College.  The present intake capacity of the college for the MBBS course is 150 students per year as per the approval of the Medical Council of India. The college offers medical education with affiliation from the Mahatma Gandhi University and apart from MBBS course, the college offers MS and MD courses in different branches of medicine and super specialty courses as well. Admission of students to the different courses offered by the college is done based on the marks secured by the students in the entrance examination conducted by the Mahatma Gandhi Univeristy.

Dental College:

Government Dental College, Kottayam was established in the year 2002 and the college offers BDS course with approval from Dental Council of India. This college is also affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University and it offers BDS course with an intake capacity of 40 students per year. The college also offers MDS course in subjects like periodontics, conservative dentistry, prosthodontics and OMFS with an intake capacity of two students per year for each branch.

Nursing College:

College of Nursing, Kottayam also called as Government College of Nursing, was established in the year 1982 and the college offers the nursing courses like General Nursing & Midwifery Course, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing. Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Kottayam was established in the year 1991 in the name of Government Engineering College. The college is approved by the Mahatma Gandhi University and the AICTE to offer engineering and technology courses in different branches of engineering like computer science & engineering, electronics & communication engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical & electronics engineering and civil engineering.
