Stenographers - Central Bureau of Investigation
Abbreviated as CBI, Central Bureau of Investigation was established for the purpose investigating cases of corruption and bribery in transactions with War and Supply Department of the country during the World War II.
Recruitment by CBI:
Central Bureau of Investigation has issued notification to appoint Stenographers on contract basis initially for a period of one year, which is extendable up to three years. Candidates will be appointed in whole-time basis and he will not be permitted to work for any other organization on part-time/whole-time basis during the period of contract.

Remuneration: Candidates appointed for the position of Stenographers will get a consolidated remuneration of Rs.15,000 per month.
Eligibility Details:
Educational Qualification: To apply for the position of Stenographer, candidates must have completed their higher secondary examination from a recognized board and must have a shorthand speed of 80 words per minute and type-writing speed of 40 words per minute.

This is in response to Saswati Ghosh’s query dated 22nd June, 2012. There is no limiation of age and experience as it is contractual job. You may probably be aware that for contractual jobs, age and experience criteria are not that important. However, all appointment is over. CBi took altogether 71 stenographers on contract basis throughout India and 6 in Kolkata. They gave advertisement in Website only long back. How to apply? May I apply because my date of birth 27.11.1962. My experience is 18 years as a Stenographer. So I think if you get a chance I will be greatly obliged to you.
Sir, I have got a contractual job of Stenographer in CBI, Kolkata from 20th Feb, 2012 along with others for Special Courts in Kolkata. Along with Stenographer, CBI also recruited APP, PP etc. on contractual basis. Although I am happy working with CBI, but I feel and hope that all my other colleagues will acknowledge my view that the salary offered to us i.e. Rs.15,000/- p.m. is very much on the lower side compared to the present market and also the salary of regular staff of CBI for the same post. Moreover, we are not getting any other single benefit whatsoever. There will also be no increment and as long as we work, the salary is fixed at Rs.15,000/-. Even the leave is less than other regular candidates. In view of this, I wonder if a higher salary, say Rs.25,000/- or so can be considered for Contractual Stenographers in CBI. As is known to all that for contractual jobs, usually the retired or aged people with vast experience apply and accept the job. Hence, the organization gets the most experienced and efficient hands. Therefore, the salary may kindly be considered as advised above for which we all be benefited a lot. It may also not be out of place to mention here that in other contractual govt. jobs, the salary so fixed and calculated on the basis the last drawn salary minus the pension which works out to more than Rs.20,000/- presently. Therefore, our salary in CBI may kindly be considered to be hiked to Rs.25,000/-.

i want to know the result of stenographers
when the interview of stenographers?
Sir,
During the interview on 15th October, 2012 at CBI office in Nizam Palace, Kolkata, we were informed that appointment would take 3 (three) months. Since three months have since elapsed and I am yet to get any intimation, I presume the whole process would take more time. May I know when will the appointments take place ? Thanks
