Karanjia College came into existence in the year 1964 and the college was established for meeting the long cherished dream of beginning a college in the tribal area of Panchpir Sub-Division of Karanjia. From the academic session 1964-65, the college began with an intake capacity of 64 students for the Pre-University arts course with affiliation from the Utkal University and later several other courses were introduced steadily. Now, the college is offering several courses with affiliation from the North Orissa University located in Baripada.

Intake Capacity:

Karanjia College is approved with an intake capacity of 256 students each for higher secondary first year arts and science and second year arts and science courses. On the other hand, for Pre-University Commerce course first year and second year the intake capacity is 128 students per year. As far as pre-university vocational course is concerned, the institute is approved with an intake capacity of 32 students per year. As far as degree courses are concerned, the college is approved with an intake capacity of 256 students for Bachelor of Arts honors and pass subjects for each year and 128 students for Bachelor of Science honors and pass subjects for each year.

Student Aids and Scholarships:

Out of the total students, 12% of the students of the college get free studentship. These are available for meritorious and poor students and a student can apply for free studentship if the income of his/her guardian or parent is less than Rs.3000 per month. While awarding free studentship factors like regular attendance in class, conduct, merit, poverty and participation in examination are taken into consideration. In addition to this several scholarships like national scholarship, teachers’ children scholarship, freedom fighters’ scholarship, etc… are also offered to students.
