Sports Authority of India is shortly called as SAI and it is an autonomous organization working under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It was established with the mandate of promotion and development of sports in the nation and its main object is to achieve excellence in sports and to prepare and train sportsmen in such a way that they can participate in international competitions.

Sports Authority of India has called for applications from eligible Indian citizens for filling up of the position of Junior Scientific Officer and Junior Scientific Assistant in the sports sciences & medicine cadreas and here are the details of the notification:

Name of the positions: Junior Scientific Officer, Junior Scientific Assistant

Number of Vacancies: Total number of vacancies is 24, which is divided between the two positions as follows:

• Junior Scientific Officer – 19

o Sports medicine – 04

o Anthropmetry – 02

o Biomechanics – 03

o Food & Nutrition – 02

o Biochemistry – 02

o Physiology – 04

o Psychology - 02

• Junior Scientific Assistant – 05

o Biomechanics – 01

o Physiology – 02

o Psychology - 02

Out of the 19 posts for Junior Scientific Officer position, 10 posts are for general category candidates, 06 for OBC candidates, 02 for SC candidates, 01 for ST candidates and Out of the 05 posts for Junior Scientific Assistant position, 02 posts are for general category candidates, 02 for OBC candidates and 01 for SC candidates.

Pay scale: Pay scales for the positions are:

• Junior Scientific Officer – PB – 3 (Rs.15600-39100 + GP of Rs.5400)

• Junior Scientific Assistant – PB – 1 (Rs.5200-20200 + GP of Rs.2800)

Educational Qualification & Experience:

Junior Scientific Officer: Candidates must have completed their PG Degree in appropriate subjects from a recognized university with not less than 60% of marks (50% for SC/ST candidates). Candidates must also possess at least two years experience in teaching or in research in appropriate subjects. Preference will be given to candidates with Ph. D in appropriate discipline.

Junior Scientific Assistant: Candidates must have completed their UG Degree appropriate subjects from a recognized university with not less than 60% of marks (50% for SC/ST candidates).

Age requirement: The upper age limit as on 1st of September 2001 for the position of Junior Scientific Officer is 35 years and for the position of Junior Scientific Assistant is 25 years. An application fee of Rs.500 should be submitted along with application in the form of DD drawn in favor of the Secretary, Sports Authority of India payable at New Delhi.
