This entrance exam is conducted by Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh. This exam is held for admitting selected candidates to the Post Graduate courses (MD/MS) offered by this Institute.

Structure of PGI Chandigarh Entrance Exam

This exam includes only a theory paper with two hundred and fifty objective questions. Five choices will be given with single or multiple correct answers. For each incorrect response marks will be deducted from the total marks obtained by the candidate. Time period specified for this examination will be for three hours.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidate should possess the following criteria to apply for the test

Pass MBBS or its equivalent from any university approved by Medical Council of India in single attempt. SC/ST candidates who have passed MBBS with up to two attempts are eligible to apply for this test.

The candidates should have completed one year internship

Registration from Central or State Medical Registration Council

How to Apply?

Applicants can download the form from the site http://pgimer.nic.in and it can be send with DD to the concerned authority after filling it. DD should be taken in the name of the Director, PGI and should be payable at Chandigarh. Applicants can also obtain forms personally from the counter at Kairon Block on the payment of cash. Applicants can also choose to receive form by post. For this, an envelope with size 12 X 10 cm and stamp worth Rs.50/- should be send to the concerned authority. This envelope addressed to the applicant should be accompanied with the DD taken in the name of the Director, PGI. Fee to be paid in cash/DD for obtaining form and brochure by different category are given below

General/OBC/OPH – Rs.1000/-

SC/ST – Rs.800/-

How to fill the Form?

Fill the form using capital letters and specify name, date of birth as it appears in degree certificate. Paste recent colored passport size photograph taken in light background on the form. Photograph should be taken with a placard, in which the name of candidate and the date in which the photo has been taken should be written clearly.

Study Plan

The competition in post graduate entrance exam is getting stronger each year as the number of candidates aspiring to obtain medical post graduate degree is increasing. An outstanding study plan should be prepared to qualify in these exams. Determine early how much topics will be studied each day with how much time. Follow that schedule compulsory every day. Students should study for twelve hours every day. Apart from studying with study materials ask tips and experience from the people who have attended this exam, if possible. This will help to develop a better understanding of the exam. There are many coaching classes, which will help to prepare for this exam. They will give good tips to attend the exam and conduct frequent tests to evaluate the knowledge of the students. Thus students can improve themselves much better. Don’t strain mind by studying too much. Sleep for eight hours daily and take break during studying.

Score Validity

Validity period of the score obtained from the PGI Chandigarh Entrance Exam will be for twelve months.
