Institute of Professional Studies was established in the year 2000 on the month of May by the Executive Council of the Allahabad University under section 44 of the University Act. It is a university-institution developed and maintained by the university. The primary objective of the institution is to develop linkages between the world of work and world of learning by offering professional courses.

Institute of Professional Studies, which is shortly called as IPS has created to offer long-term, medium and short-term professional courses on self-financing and regular basis under the aegis of centres dedicated for particular areas and the names of five centres functioning under the institution are given below:

Eligibility requirements:

Eligibility conditions to be fulfilled by the candidates for seeking admission to the above-mentioned courses are given below:

• Post Graduate Diploma in Food Technology & Processing & M. Sc in Food Technology & Nutritional Science – B. Sc in home science/home economics with chemistry or biochemistry subjects

• Diploma in Computer Applications – 10+2 from a recognized board or university or any other equivalent qualification

• Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications/MCA – 10+2+3 in any stream from a recognized university with mathematical aptitude

• Bachelor of Computer Applications – 10+2 with mathematics as a subject

• Diploma in Computer Aided Fashion Design, Two-year Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design and Technology & Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design & Technology – Female candidates with intermediate or equivalent qualification

• Post Graduate Diploma in Photo Journalism & Visual Communication – Graduation in any discipline

• Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies – 10+2 in any discipline
