CMP Degree College, Allahabad
The CMP in the CMP Degree College stands for Chaudhary Mahadev Prasad Degree College and it is a constituent unit of Allahabad University. The college was established in the year 1950 and it became a constituent college of Allahabad University in the year 2005.
Courses offered:
CMP Degree College offers degree courses in the faculty of arts, law, science & commerce and some vocational courses as well. Some of the details regarding these courses are given below:
Science Faculty:
Under the faculty of science, three-year degree course is offered in two groups called as biology group and mathematics group. The number of seats under each of these groups is 335 and 225 respectively. In addition to these seats, 27% of seats for candidates falling under OBC in both mathematics & biology group is also offered by the college.
Arts Faculty:
Fourteen subjects are covered under the faculty of arts and they are vocal & instrumental music, psychology, geography, economics, political science, education, philosophy, sociology, medieval history, ancient history, Urdu, English literature, Sanskrit and Hindi. The total number of seats offered by the college for arts faculty is 1870 plus 27% seats for OBC candidates.
Commerce faculty:
This faculty offers three-year degree course in B. Com, the intake capacity is 350 students, and 27% seats for OBC candidates.
Law Faculty:
Under the course, three-year degree course in bachelor of law is offered with an intake capacity of 320 students.
Vocational Courses:
Apart from the above-mentioned courses, the college also offers vocational courses like diploma in computer application and diploma in fashion design with an intake capacity of 40 seats for boys & 20 seats for girls and 30 seats for girls alone respectively.
Institutions functioning in the college:
The institute of professional studies of Allahabad University has permitted CMP Degree College to offer one-year diploma course in computer application and fashion design and these courses are offered through Uma Shankar Institute of Computer Science and Sushila Devi Centre for fashion design respectively, which are functioning under the college.
