Maa Durga Shikshan Sansthan Women Teachers Training College came into existence in the year 2005 and the college is one of the developing colleges for teacher education in Jaisalmer area of the state of Rajasthan. The college is offering teacher education courses with approval from the National Council for Teacher Education and with affiliation from the Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati University located in the city of Ajmer in the state of Rajasthan. The college has earned recognition from the University Grants Commission under section 2 (f).

Maa Durga Shikshan Sansthan Women Teacher Training College offers B. Ed course under two different categories namely:

• In-service Teacher Education Programme

• Pre-Service Teacher Education Programme

In-service Teacher Education Programme:

The in-service teacher education programme offered by the Maa Durga Shikshan Sansthan Women Teacher Training College is meant for candidates who are already working as teachers without B. Ed qualification. The in-service teacher education B. Ed course is offered by the college by acting as a study centre of the Indira Gandhi National Open University. The institute is approved to admit 100 students per year for this two-year course.

Pre-Service Teacher Education Programme:

Pre-service Teacher Education Programme of Maa Durga Shikshan Sansthan Women Teachers Training College includes two courses namely B. Ed and STC. These courses are meant for general candidates, who are not presently teachers. The institute is permitted to admit 100 students per year for this course of which 30 seats are meant for candidates from science background and 70 seats are meant for candidates from arts background. The college offers B. Ed course with specialization in the following subjects:

Admission Process for B. Ed Course offered under pre-service Teacher education programme:

Admission of students to the B. Ed course offered under this category is done based on the admission policy decided by the Government of Rajasthan. At present, admission is done based on the marks secured by the candidates in the Pre-Teacher Education Test shortly called as PTET, which is conducted by any of the universities in the state of Rajasthan according to the guidelines of the Government of Rajasthan.

Eligibility for PTET:

To take up the PTET test, candidates must have completed their UG or PG course with not less than 50% of marks from a recognized university.
