Vasantrao Naik Government Institute of Arts and Social Sciences shortly called as VNGIASS came into existence in the year 1885. The college came into existence in the name of Morris College and it is one of the oldest colleges in the nation. The college got its present name in honor of the former Chief Minister of the state of Maharashtra and alumnus of the college Mr. Vasantrao Naik.

Eligibility requirements:

For getting into the first year of the B.A. course offered by the Vasantrao Naik Government Institute of Arts and Social Sciences, candidates must have completed their higher secondary examination from the Maharashtra state Board and for second year of the degree course, they must get through the first year of the B. A course and for getting into the final year of the B.A course, they must successfully get through the second year of the degree course. For MA first year, candidates with BA from the recognized university are eligible to apply.
