Meston College of Education came into existence in the year 1937 and the college grew out of the Wesley College that was one of the pioneering Arts College in the city of Chennai for over 70 years between 1861 and 1937. The college is governed by the Meston Education and Development Association and it is affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University.

Courses offered:

Meston College of Education offers the following courses in the faculty of Education:

• Bachelor of Education (full-time)

• Master of Education (full-time)

• Master of Philosophy in Education (full-time and part-time)

• Doctor of Philosophy in Education (full-time and part-time)

Eligibility requirement:

Doctor of Philosophy in Education (FT & PT): Candidates, who have qualified in Master’s Degree in Education or Master of Philosophy in Education according to the regulations of the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University or any other recognized university are eligible to apply for the Ph. D course in education.

Master of Philosophy in Education (FT & PT): Candidates, who have qualified in the Master’s degree in Education conducted by TN Teacher’s Education University or any other university as approved by the TNTEU are eligible to apply for the M. Phil course.

Master of Education: Candidates, who have qualified in the Bachelor’s degree in Education conducted by TN Teacher’s Education University or any other university as approved by the TNTEU are eligible to apply for the M. Ed course.

Bachelor of Education (full-time): Candidates, who have qualified in the Bachelor’s degree in Arts or Science conducted by any university as approved by the TNTEU are eligible to apply for the B. Ed course offered by the Meston College of Education.
