Mahavir Mahavidyalaya also called as Mahavir College was established by the Shri Acharyaratma Deshbhushan Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, which began its educational journey in the year 1963 through the establishment of Deshbhushan Vidya Mandir. Later, the organization decided to offer its service to higher education field thereby paving the way for Kolhapur College in the year 1970 and this college was renamed as Mahaveer Mahavidyalaya in the year 1975 on the occasion of Mahotsava of Bhagwan Mahaveer.
