Electrical Draughtsman - How to become an Electrical Draughtsman?
Electrical Draughtsman is a person whose tasks include developing specifications and also instructions for the purpose of installation of voltage transformers. They also deal with related electrical equipments which are used to transmit electricity from transmission lines to consumers. The responsibilities of an Electrical Draughtsman include:
- Drafting, laying out, and specifying technical devices
- Evaluating information to determine compliance with standards
- Organizing, planning, and prioritizing work
- Making decisions and solving problems
- Documenting or recording information
- Inspecting equipment, structures, or material
- Judging the qualities of things, services, or people
- Developing and building teams
- Guiding, directing, and motivating subordinates
Qualifying Exams
Reputed firms demand a B.Tech or B.E in Electrical Engineering as a basic qualification to recruit a person as an Electrical Draughtsman. Some other firms also recruit aspirants with a diploma or any other equivalent qualification in the field of Electrical Engineering. Persons with certification courses in the field of Electrical Engineering are also recruited in certain firms. However most of the firms will screen them based on a test and an interview.
Who is eligible to apply?
- To study B.Tech or B.E in Electrical Engineering they have to score a minimum marks in the plus two level.
- Physics and Mathematics should be compulsory subjects in the plus two levels.
- Plus two pass outs can directly study a diploma or a certification course in the field of Electrical Engineering.
- Most of the institutions prefer residents of India.
- Most of the institutions prefer students who are above 17 years of age.
How to prepare for the exam and interview?
The aspirants in the field have to set up a proper study plan that will help them to tackle any competitive test. The core areas must be focused in the study plan. Time management must be considered as an important factor in the study plan. Prescribed text books must be referred to get relevant data. Previous question papers can be referred so as to get an overall idea about the pattern of the test. Good coaching centers can be approached so as to gain proper assistance. To clear the interview section they have to be impressive in both technical side as well as personality side. Good communication skills and also confidence level should be built up to clear the interview.
