Government M.H. College of Home Science & Science for Women came into existence in the year 1954 and the college is an autonomous institution affiliated to the Rani Durgavati University located in Jabalpur. The college has earned recognition from the UGC in the year 2004 by awarding it as the college with potential for excellence. It has earned recognition under section 2 (f) of the University Grants Commission Act.

Admissions:
Admission of students is carried out on merit basis according to the rules of admission specified by the Department of Higher Education of the state of Madhya Pradesh according to the reservation policy of the Government. In the process of admission, seats are reserved for PH/FF/OBC/ST/SC candidates. Candidates can get the application form for seeking admission to the college from the office of the college or they can also download the application from the website of the college.
Infrastructural facilities:
The campus of Government M.H. College of Home Science and Science for Women is spread over an area of 10.5 acres of land and it is one of the biggest colleges of the state of Madhya Pradesh. The college building is designed artistically and the class rooms are spacious and well-ventilated. The college has five gardens, play grounds and volley-ball and basket ball courts. The classrooms of the college are equipped with circuit cameras thereby permitting close monitoring of the examinations, teaching and other activities in all classrooms in the college simultaneously.
