The University grants commission of India conducts exams for the various languages every year to select candidates for teaching Pali language in the various government universities across the country. The paper is prepared keeping in mind that the candidates taking the exam are well versed with the grammar and the writing skills of the language.

Importance of the paper

India is culturally very rich and a very diverse country. It is the home to the largest number of ethnicities that survive here in peace and coexist in a system of universal brotherhood. Many of the great religions of the past like the Buddhism and the Jainism originated here. And most of the ancient texts of the above said religions are written in Pali. Thus Pali is studied by many as a part of their religious curriculum to read and understand these ancient hole books while by others as a part of their historical curriculum.

Paper Pattern

You will find 50 questions in this paper and all are multiple choice type. Candidates will get 4 options for every question out of which they have to identify the correct answer and mark it.

Marking

The total marks for the Pali (Paper II) are 100 which is divided into 50 questions with an equal weightage of 2 marks for every question.  However, negative marking is not there in this paper.

Time allotted

One hour and 15 minutes is all what you get to write the Pali (Paper II)
