Master of Science in Meteorology, Meteorology Master of Science
Meteorology is the scientific study of atmosphere. It focuses on weather processes and its forecasting. Meteorology deals with the physical processes in the atmosphere and their interactions with soil, vegetation and water on earth’s surfaces.
Objective:
The primary objective of this course is to develop strong academic knowledge among the students. They are taught the processes of weather forecasting and different methods of weather analysis.
Course Outlook:
Masters of Science in meteorology is a two year post graduation course. It is offered both as part time as well as full time course. The two year course is structurally divided into two halves of one year duration each. Each year is followed by an exam which has to be passed by the candidate to get promoted to the next year. First year is dedicated to detail study to the subject while the second year is involved in project work and industrial training.
Eligibility:
The candidate must be a graduate from any recognized university. The candidate must have secured a minimum of 50% in the graduation studies. Some universities have made it mandatory for the student to have mathematics in the higher secondary schooling. The subject of graduation should include any science subject (physics, chemistry or mathematics). The admission to this course is either based on an entrance test or on the marks secured in the graduation studies.
Job Prospects:
There are meteorology department in almost every city. Their work is to forecast weather and study atmosphere. These centers hire people with strong academic knowledge to look after the machinery and forecast weather.

hi, I’m a college student here in the Philippines. Currently I’m taking my undergraduate course, BS Physics, and im in my 3rd year. i would like to ask if it would be possible to enroll to an MS in Meteorology even though I’m a BS Physics degree holder?? i really want to study meteorology because for the simple reason I LOVE METEOROLOGY. and im planning to have an undergraduate thesis with relation to meteorology. what are the requirements in enrolling to this program if i am qualified?? thanks!
