Profile:

Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology is an autonomous scientific institute under Ministry of Earth Sciences established by the Government of India. The major objective of the institute is to expand research in the field of monsoon meterology of the tropics in general with special refernce to monsoon meterology of the country. Initially the institute was named as Institute of Tropical Meterology (ITM) but later it changed to Indian Institute of Tropical Meterology (IITM) in the year 1971.

Job Profile:

Candidates having Posts graduate or Doctoral can apply for the posts of Research Associates and Research Fellows at the Institute according to their interest in the relevant field.

Eligibility:

Candidates are required to be less than 35 years of age as on 1 January 2010 for the posts of Research Associates while the maximum age limit set for the posts of Research Fellows is 28 years.

Educational Qualification:

A doctorate degree from a recognized University in Meteorology is essential for applying for the posts of Research Associates while Master’s degree in Meteorology is required for applying for the posts of Research Fellows.

Research Associates: 10 posts in total.
Research Fellows: 10 posts in total.

Pay Scale:

Research Associates: Consolidate pay of Rs. 16000/- will be given to the selected candidates.
Research Fellows: Consolidate pay of Rs. 12000/- will be givent to the selected candidates.

Selection Criteria:

Cadidates will have to face both written examination as well as the personal interview for their selection for the prescribed positions in the institute.
