B.Sc in Agriculture- Admission Details
Higher secondary education in science stream with a minimum of 50 % marks is the basic educational qualification required for pursuing bachelor’s degree in Agriculture. Haryana Agricultural University and Lovely Professional University are some of the well known Universities in India that offer Bachelor of Science course in Agriculture. Duration of the course is 4 years. Admission to the course is based on the scores obtained in qualifying exam.
Eligibility Criterion for Bachelor’s in Science in Agriculture
Candidates who have completed higher secondary education with subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English from a recognized board of studies are eligible for this course. Candidates need to score a minimum of 50 % marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination. Apart from this, candidates who have studied vocational higher secondary studies in Agriculture are also eligible for the course. Candidates should have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission. Those who have completed 21 years are not eligible to apply. Candidates belonging to reserved categories can avail the relaxations in terms of marks and age limit as per the prevailing norms.
Admission Procedure for Bachelor’s in Science in Agriculture
Eligible candidates are required to send application for the course in prescribed format. Admission to the course is based on the scores obtained in the qualifying examination. Apart from this, reputed Universities carries out admission on the basis of scores obtained in the entrance exam conducted by the Universities concerned. For instance, Haryana Agricultural University conducts its own entrance exam for admission. Usually the entrance tests contains objective type multiple choice questions. Candidates can expect questions of higher secondary level in the entrance exam.
The time duration of the exam is three hours. Of these, first thirty minutes is provided for pre-examination formalities and remaining 2 and half hours is meant for answering the question paper. Medium of instruction will be in English language. There will be a total of 200 questions in which 100 questions will be asked from Biology or Agriculture. Remaining 100 questions will be asked from topics such as Physics and Chemistry. Each question carries half mark. Total marks allotted for the entire test is 200. There will be no negative marking for wrong answers.
Those who have cleared the entrance test will be short listed for personal interview. Final selection will be on the basis of scores obtained in the qualifying exam, entrance test and personal interview.
