Assistant Manager Recruitment in GIC 2013– Selection and Application Process
General Insurance Company (GIC) has invited applications for the position of ‘Assistant Manager’, to different streams like HRD, Agriculture, Audit, Accounts, Finance and IT. Candidates are selected for this position through a written test, GD and personnel interview. Interested candidates can apply to the position via online. The tentative date for candidates to submit application forms is specified as 31st March, 2013.
Selection Procedure for Assistant Manager in GIC
Selection procedure for Assistant Manager in GIC starts with written examination. It is necessary for candidates to pass the written examination to get short listed for group Discussion and Personal Interview. A total of 200 marks are assigned for entire selection process. Those who can attain a minimum of 60% (for general and OBC candidates) or 50% marks (for SC/ST) in the written test can get qualified for the next level. Written examination includes the following sections –
Section 1 - Technical Knowledge of the relevant stream
Total marks – 40 marks
Section 2 – This section involves two parts which is common for candidates for all streams which is as follows -
Part A – Objective type questions involving the following sections –
- Section I - Test of Reasoning (20 marks)
- Section II - Test of English Language (20 marks)
- Section III - Test of General Awareness (20 marks)
- Section IV - Test of Numerical Ability & Computer Literacy (20 marks)
Part B – This section includes descriptive type questions involving the following one section –
- Test in English Language — Essay, Precis and Comprehension (30 marks)

Application Process for Assistant Manager in GIC
Candidates who are eligible in all respects for the position of Assistant Manager need to submit applications online through the web portal of GIC. As an initial step, they should pay the application fee in the form of demand draft. DD of Rs 500/- must be taken in favor of General Insurance Company (GIC) and it must be refundable and payable at Mumbai. There is no need for SC/ST/PH candidates to deposit the DD amount.
Candidates after submitting the DD amount will get a receipt showing details about the DD number and other particulars. Applicants should enter this information in the online application form given in the GIC website. It is also needed for them to upload a passport size photograph as a last step. It is important to conduct a final check whether the application details are entered accurately. After recheck, applications can be sent successfully. The final admit card can be downloaded from GIC official site starting from the date specified.
