The Central University (CU) of Jharkhand was established on 1st of March, 2009. The university was established under the Central Universities Act, 2009. The first Vice Chancellor of the university was Dr. Darlando T. Khathing who is an internationally popular scientist and a distinguished academic administrator.
The primary vision of the university is to become a world class university in all aspects. The university aims to become one of the best one in terms of teaching, administration, research, co-curricular activities. The primary objective of the University is to provide instructional and research facilities in various disciplines to disseminate and advance knowledge. The university also aims to make special provisions for Integrated Courses in various disciplines.
