Aspirants interested in the field of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology should have studied Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics in 12th standard. Various specializations like Hearing, Language and Speech(HLS), Speech Pathology or Audiology, Speech Language Pathology etc are offered at Bachelors as well Post Graduate level. Some of the reputed institutes offering the course include AIIMS, NISH, Sri Ramachandra University College of Allied Health Sciences etc. Umpteen opportunities are available in various hospitals, ENT clinics, NGO’s both in India as well as abroad.

Eligibility criteria

Candidates who have opted for science subjects (Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) in 12th class level can join for undergraduate level courses in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology. The selection procedure for these courses in most cases will depend on the percentage of marks scored in 12th class level. Some of the prominent universities conduct entrance examination in order to select candidates for undergraduate courses. In order to join Post graduate courses, candidates need to acquire a graduate qualification in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology. A registration with the Indian Speech and Hearing Association (ISHA) or Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) is necessary for graduates or post graduates to practice Audiology. Post graduates can also take up PhD or M.Phil courses in related areas or disciplines.
