Birla Institute of Applied Science, Bhimtal, Nainital
In the year 1989 at a site which was used to provide testing and engineering workshop facilities to the industries in the vicinity the Birla Institute of Applied Science was established. The B.M. Birla Group of Industries sponsored the establishment of the institute and that’s why renowned industrialists like Mr. C.K. Birla and Mr. G.P. Birla are among the founding members.
Initially, in 1989, the only course that the college offered was Master in Computer Applications. Gradually with development in the year 2000 the institute also came up with a post graduate course in Electronics and Communication Engineering which was equivalent to a b. Tech degree and that’s why it later transformed into a B. Tech curriculum of 4 years after 10+2 in 2003.
Overview
In the management board of the college there are distinguished educationists and industrialists of the modern times. The chairman of the institute Dr. S.K. Joshi is the former President Indian National Science Academy & Ex Director-General, CSIR and the Secretary General Dr. H.C. Pande is the Vice Chancellor, Emeritus, B.I.T, Ranchi. With such an experienced managers the college always strives to provide its students the best of the technical education they can get. The institute is affiliated to Kumaon University and has the recognition of AICTE.
Infrastructure
The campus comprises of the modern classrooms, highly advanced laboratories and a central library. Along with the fundamental courses the college also provides scope of industrial training inside the campus.
