CBSE Class X Mathematics Papers




The central board of secondary education conducts the class 10 Mathematics examination every year along with the exams of other subjects. The duration of the exam is three hours and it carries a total of 100 marks. Use of calculators and other electronic items is prohibited in the exam. The level of the questions is such that 15 % of the questions are easy, 70 % are average and 15 % are difficult. Out of the 100 marks 31 are for knowledge of the subject, 45 are for understanding, 12 each for application and skill.

The pattern of the examination is given below:

There are 25 questions in all. There are 10 short answer type questions each carrying 3 marks each, 10 questions carrying 4 marks each and 5 long answer type questions each carrying 6 marks. The paper is divided in three sections. The above mentioned questions are all divided in these three sections. No overall choice is there in the paper, but there are internal choices. Choices are given in two questions in Section A carrying 3 marks each, in two questions of Section B carrying 4 marks each and in two questions in Section C each carrying six marks.

    Request your special interest for my clarification.
    All my questions below is for CBSE only.

    1. For X std:
    How many Languages are mandatory, if there my preferred lanugages are (i)English, (ii)Sanskrit, (iii)Kannada.
    Note: Hindi is not included.

    2. For VI std:
    Is it mandatory that the school has to complete the 100% lessons in the issued books. (0r) what is the % of lessons in which a CBSE school should cover?

    3. For VI Std, Please explain what is “Assignment”? Can a teacher give “Hindi Assigment” to write 12 lessons for the whole class?
