The Central Board of Secondary education was established with the motto to provide a uniform curriculum which would suit the need of all students. The curriculum is independent of the fact whether the student is in some private school or a government one. Geographical diversities does not matter at all as far as the academic innovations and curriculum related privileges are concerned.

Below is given the pattern for the CBSE class 12 Biology Examination:

The exam is of duration 3 hours and carries a maximum of 70 marks. The paper consists of following types of questions.

There are 8 very short answer type questions with each question carrying 1 mark. Then there are short answer type questions, 10 in number, each carrying 2 marks. Also there are questions carrying 3 marks. Number of such questions is 9. Apart from these there are three long answer type questions. The marks carried by each of these questions is 5

So the total number of questions is 30. No overall option is given in the paper. However there are selective internal choices. The choice is there in one question each of 2 marks and 3 marks and in all the 5 marks questions.
