Courses and Admission Procedure in Goa Institute of Management


Goa Institute of Management offers Post Graduate diploma programs in Health Care Management and general management subjects. Graduation with a minimum of 50% marks is the educational qualification requirement. Admission is carried out on the basis of XAT/ CMAT examination.

Admission Procedure

Candidates who have three year full time bachelors’ degree in any subject from a recognized University are eligible to apply for this program. They should have secured a minimum of 50% marks in qualifying examination. Those who are belonging to reserved category require at least 45% marks in aggregate so as to be eligible. Maximum seats allowed for one batch is 240. Admission to the course is carried out on the basis of scores obtained in XAT exam conducted by Xavier Labour Relations Institute, Jamshedpur or CMAT or examination conducted by All India Council for Technical Education. Admission to International as well as Non Residential Indian candidates is based on Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). Final selection will be based on the composite marks obtained in qualifying exam, entrance examination and face to face interview.

Course Structure

The duration of the courses is 2 years. Of these, first year consists of a pre course module of three semesters. Each trimester comprises of five compulsory courses to provide foundation in all areas of management. It covers topics such as

  • Healthcare Structure/ System in India
  • Bio-statistics & Operations Research
  • Management Communication
  • Financial Management for Healthcare
  • Organizational Behavior
  • Marketing Management
  • Human Resource Management in Healthcare

In addition to this, the candidates will have to undergo an intensive 8 to 10 week summer industry internship at the end of academic year.

Second year comprises of 9 core courses and 6 electives plus one sectoral project. Some of the important topics covered in this year are listed below.
