Courses and Admission Procedure in NIFT

National Institute of Fashion Technology conducts graduate level as well as post graduate level courses in Fashion Designing. Admission to the courses is based on certain assessment tests such as General Ability Test and Creative Ability Test conducted by the institute. Upper age limit for graduate level courses is 23 years and there is no age bar of Master level courses.

Admission Procedure in NIFT

Under Graduate Programs: Candidates who have completed Higher Secondary Course in any stream from a recognized board of examination are eligible to apply for Bachelor level programs. There is no minimum mark required in qualifying examination for being eligible. Those who are more than 23 years of age at the time of application are not eligible to apply. Eligible candidates will be short listed for General Ability Test. There will be multiple choice objective type questions in this examination. Candidates can expect questions from design aptitude as well as general aptitude in this examination. Maximum time allotted for this exam is 2 hours. Those who have secured minimum marks for qualification in this test will be short listed for second round of test, which is known as Creative Ability Test (CAT). Candidates can expect drawing based questions in this test. Candidates will be given a maximum of three hours so as attempt all the questions. Final selection will be based on the composite marks obtained in both exams as well as in qualifying exam.

Bachelor of Fashion Technology in Apparel Production: Candidates who have completed Higher Secondary course from a recognized board of studies are eligible to apply. They should have studied subjects such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in HSC. Eligible candidates will be short listed for General Ability Test (GAT). There will be multiple choice questions in this examination. Maximum time allotted for this exam is 3 hours. Those who have qualified this examination will be called for Situation Test. Candidates can expect questions from Material Handling in this exam. They will be given a maximum of 2 hours to answers all questions.
Admission procedure for Post Graduation Courses
Graduation in any subject from a recognized University is the minimum educational qualification for Master level programs. In addition to this, those who have completed Diploma courses in design from NIFT or National Institute of Design are also eligible to apply. There is no age bar for this course. Selection procedure includes General Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
