This college belongs to the reputed SRM group of colleges in Chennai which is managed by Valliammai Society. This group manages 17 other institutions in Tamilnadu and is one of the largest educational entities in the country.

The institute was founded in 1996 and initially the affiliation was with University of Madras. Since 2002, the affiliation of the courses is with Anna University, Chennai. It has produced number of University rank holders so far. The college has been recognized by the AICTE norms and has won the accreditation from NBA also.

Admission:

Each year the college gives the allocation of seat to students following the guidelines of the Anna University Counseling. The candidates are selected depending upon the merit marks achieved in the common entrance test and on their academics.

Library:

The central library holds around collection of over 49,000 volumes of books pertaining to different subjects. It is spread over two floors consisting of 2000 square meter of built up area and the entire library is computerized.

Computer Labs:

The college extends up to 970 terminals to its students and internet connection of 8 Mbps is provided to all computers in the computer lab and also the department and library.

Transport comes in the form of 24 buses which makes connection to all parts of the city, thus extending commutation for the students. The college also has separate hostel facility for boys and girls. It runs 3 hostels for girls and two for boys.

Placement:

The institute maintains a clear placement record boasting its history of placement through the web site. Around 425 students have been placed in 2010 alone. The placement cell strives at its best for securing a suitable job to almost all of its students.
