Eligibility and Pattern for Ed.CET

Graduates or Post Graduates with a minimum of 50% marks can apply for Education Common Entrance Test (Ed.CET) conducted by Andhra University. There are three parts for the entrance test, Part A, Part B, and Part C. In Part A, there are 25 questions on General English, each carrying 1 mark. Part B includes general knowledge questions for 15 marks (15 questions). Part C is based on the subject studied by the candidate during graduation.  

Eligibility Criteria for Ed.CET

In order to apply for Ed.CET, candidate should satisfy the following conditions.

  • Must be Indian nationals
  • Should satisfy local/non-local status requirements put forward by Andhra Pradesh educational institutions
  • Should have passed graduate level courses like B.A, B.Sc, B.Com, BBM, and BCA
  • Students appearing for final year examination of graduation are also eligible
  • Applicants must hold a minimum of 50% marks in graduation or post graduation or 5years integrated course. SC/ST/BC and physically handicapped candidates need to hold a minimum of 40% marks only.
  • Lower age limit is 19 years
  • There is no upper age limit to apply

Pattern for Ed.CET

Ed.CET is conducted in objective model. There will be 150 questions that should be completed within a maximum of 2 hours. Three parts are there for the entrance test, Part A, Part B, and Part C. In Part A, there are 25 questions on General English, each carrying 1 marks. Part B includes general knowledge questions for 15 marks (15 questions). Part C is based on the subject studied by the candidate during graduation.  Here 100 questions are asked for 100 marks.

Mathematics – 100 questions — 100 marks

Physical Sciences – 100 questions –100 marks

  • Chemistry – 50 questions — 50 marks
  • Physics – 50 questions– 50 marks

Biological Sciences – 100 questions — 100 marks

  • Zoology – 50 questions — 50 marks
  • Botany – 50 questions — 50 marks

Social Studies – 100 questions — 100 marks

  • Geography – 35 questions — 35 marks
  • History – 30 questions — 30 marks
  • Economics – 20 questions — 20 marks
  • Civics – 15 questions — 15 marks

English – 100 questions — 100 marks

First two sections, Part-A and Part-B are common for all streams and Part C is based on the subject studied during graduation

Eligibility for subject selection in Part C

For selecting Mathematics in Part C, candidates should satisfy any of the following conditions

  • Graduation with mathematics as a subject
  • BCA holders having studied mathematics as a subject in 12th

For selecting Physical Sciences in Part C, candidates should satisfy any of the following conditions

  • Should hold B.Sc degree with Physics/Chemistry/Material Sciences as subjects
  • BCA holders having studied physical sciences as a subject in 12th

For selecting Biological Sciences in Part C, candidates should satisfy any of the following conditions

  • Should hold B.Sc degree with Botany/Zoology/Life Science as subjects
  • BCA holders having studied biological sciences as a subject in 12th

For selecting Social Studies in Part C, candidates should satisfy any of the following conditions

  • Graduation with social sciences as a subject in 12th

For selecting English in Part C, candidates should satisfy any of the following conditions

  • Graduation or Post Graduation with English as a subject

Candidate should specify the subjects selected for Part C at the time of application. In the question paper, they should attend the particular section for the concerned subject.

    Everywhere I can see only this statement:
    “Non-Local status requirement as laid down in the Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission) Order, 1974″
    But nowhere I can find a copy of the real order where it states anything clearly to determine if I am eligible or not and if yes, then what are the required docs to be submitted.
    I am from Kerala and studied there itself. Staying at Hyderabad and working at an International school from August 2010. Now I secured the top rank itself but disappointed by the EdCET authorities disinterest and one or two word answers, just saying “yes you are eligible”.
    No idea what documents are required in this case!
    Pls advice…

    hi my name is Abubaker i need to ask that i have passed my Bcom degree with 74% and i had a mathematics subject in my first year Bcom will do to appear this examination for airforce,,,…. please guide if not this then which exams i can give to get in to airforce….:)
