Public Service Commission, West Bengal shortly called as PCSWB is a constituent body that came into existence in the year 1937 for the purpose of recruitment of candidates to different civil service positions across the state of West Bengal.

Public Service Commission, West Bengal invites applications from eligible Indian citizens for the position of Fisher field assistant to work under the Department of Fisheries, Aquaculture, Aquatic Resources & Fishing harbours.

Name of the position: Fishery Field Assistant

Number of Vacancies: Total number of vacancies is 286, which is divided as follows:

• SC – 17

• ST – 29

• BC (A) – 29

• BC (B) – 20

• MSP – 06

• PH - 03

Pay Scale: Pay scale for the position of Fishery Field Assistant is fixed as Rs.7100-37600 plus a GP of Rs. 3200.

Eligibility:

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have completed their three-year Bachelor’s Degree course in science with industrial fish and fisheries as vocational or major subject from a recognized university. Candidates should be able to speak, write and read in Bengali and this is not applicable for Nepali speaking candidates.

Physical Fitness: Candidates applying for the position of Fishery Field Assistant should have good physique and sound health and shall be of active habits and should be free from bodily infirmity or organic defect. Candidates should also be able to travel in remote rural areas by motor cycle or bicycle and must also be a good swimmer.

Age: Candidates must not be more than 35 years as on the 1st of January 2011 and this upper age limit is relaxable for people holding substantive appointment under Government of India/West Bengal.

Candidates must enclose an application fee of Rs.160 only by Indian Postal Order endorsed or crossed to the Secretary, Public Service Commission, West Bengal payable at G.P.O., Kolkata or in the form of challan from Government Treasury in West Bengal or RBI, Kolkata along with the application.
