The answer is simple - for many people is field of physics so complicated and unimaginable that they are not capable allow that the distance learning is possible.

I would like to study M.Sc. of Physics by partly distance (combined) form in my country at the best university in my country (actually 270th in ARWU), but only my wife find it as a good idea.
